MP: Parliament is bigger than any one person
Further to his press release issued yesterday (https://www.johnbaron.co.uk/news/john-baron-mp-responds-report-committee-privileges), John said,
“Our Parliamentary system depends on being able to trust what Ministers are saying in the Commons is truthful and accurate. It is on this basis that MPs are not allowed to call each other liars – because this would never arise.”
“I hope the Commons accepts the Committee’s findings on Monday in the usual way, without a vote. However, it does come to a vote I will be supporting the report and trust other MPs will do likewise. No one individual, or even party is, bigger than Parliament, and its integrity must never be impugned.”
