MP thanks Colleagues for support in Treasury Committee election
Yesterday there was an election to appoint a new Chair of the Treasury Select Committee, following the appointment of the previous Chair, Rt Hon Mel Stride MP, as Secretary of State for Work & Pensions. John Baron MP was a candidate, but in the end Harriett Baldwin MP was successful.
John said,
“After a very good-natured contest, I congratulate Harriett on her election to chair this important Committee. There will be lots to do over the next weeks and months, and I wish her well in her new position.”
“I would like to thank MPs of all parties who supported me yesterday, and I was pleased to make it through to the penultimate round of voting before Harriett and Dame Andrea pulled away from the rest of the pack.”
“I am now putting my name forward to serve as a member of the Select Committee.”
