MP: Higher unemployment always the result
At Prime Minister’s Questions today, John Baron MP asked the Deputy Prime Minister, Rt Hon Oliver Dowden MP,
“At a time we have record employment, an unemployment level half the EU average and strong inward investment, can he explain why it is that every single Labour government since the Second World War has ended in economic failure, with the currency weaker and unemployment higher?”
The Deputy Prime Minister said John was absolutely right, and that the last Labour Government also left a note to say there was no money. Labour governments overspend.
John said afterwards,
“Sometimes it is easy to forget Labour’s woeful economic record when in government. Their future proposals so far do not bode well, with tens of billions of pounds to be borrowed which will stymie growth. British voters will increasingly see through this as the next election nears.”
