MP urges local residents to have their say on pylon route
Having recently met with National Grid to discuss the next stage of the consultation process for the upgrade of the infrastructure in the Norwich to Tilbury area, John Baron MP has today urged constituents to engage with the consultation.
National Grid are organising a number of Webinars and an event on 21st July 2023 [2-7pm] at the Basildon Sporting Village will provide a face-to-face option for local residents to see the new proposals. National Grid carried out an earlier non-statutory consultation last year but have now updated the plans to show the proposed route and pylon locations. This further non-statutory consultation runs from 27th June until 21st August.
John said:
“It is important for residents to engage with the consultation process to ensure that their views are heard. Having met with National Grid recently, I understand they have already made some amendments to the proposed route to take account of historically significant sites and they are keen to work with residents to minimise the impact of this new infrastructure as much as possible.”
Liam Walker of National Grid said:
“This latest consultation provides an important opportunity for us to explain how the feedback we received in last year’s initial consultation has further shaped our proposals for the Norwich to Tilbury project. We encourage people to share their views on the updated proposals for the project, which will provide clean, green electricity to homes and businesses across East Anglia and the UK”
