MP cites the test of reasonableness
Today in the House of Commons, the Prime Minister gave a Statement following the publication of the Sue Gray report into lockdown events.
In the Chamber, John said,
“I believe both party leaders have a lot to answer for. The British Army adheres to the principle that you ‘Serve to Lead’, and lead by example. Given the extent of rule-breaking in No 10, does the Prime Minister still believe that his assurances that there was no rule-breaking pass the test of reasonableness?”
The Prime Minister responded that he did believe that he was attending work events, and that with the exception of his birthday event, for which he was fined, the Police investigations support his conclusion.
Afterwards, John said,
“Parliament is the beating heart of our nation. To knowingly mislead it can not be tolerated, no matter the issue. I am now reflecting on the report, having always said I would consider all the evidence before deciding.”
