MP: The economic false narrative should be corrected
The ONS has revised Britain’s economic growth figures, predicting that growth in the start of this year will be triple what was previously forecast. The update also shows that Britain’s GDP is 1.8% higher than before the pandemic – 2% higher than previously thought – putting British growth significantly above G7 countries like France and Germany.
John said,
“I welcome this revision, which follows on from the ONS’ recent upgrade showing that the British economy was already back to its pre-pandemic size by the end of 2021. The economy is much stronger than the previous figures suggested – a false narrative of Britain being a laggard has been established, and it is good to have the figures to show this is wrong.”
