MP: Constituents will be relieved
In the first round of the Changing Places Fund, Basildon Borough Council will receive £178,520. Changing Places toilets are larger accessible facilities for people who can not use standard facilities, and are equipped with hoists, curtains and adult-sized changing benches. They can support users, their families and carers. There are 1,300 Changing Places toilets across England, and the Changing Places Fund will increase this number by 500. Muscular Dystrophy UK is working in partnership with the Government on this initiative.
John said,
“Constituents who require accessible facilities will welcome this news. The new toilets will be delivered in public venues, ensuring those with severe disabilities are able to enjoy public amenities at their convenience. Without getting bogged down in the details, this is an important part of the Government’s programme to bring greater equality to our communities as we build back fairer, and I am pleased that the constituency is amongst those to benefit.”
