MP says have your say
John Baron MP has today encouraged local residents to respond to a survey which will act as an evidence gathering exercise for the Access to Cash pilot scheme which has been announced for Billericay following concerns about access to cash (in particular regarding business banking needs).
Having recently met with UK Finance who are in charge of the Access to Cash pilot scheme, John also raised concerns about everyday banking needs, particularly for the vulnerable and those who may not have access to online or telephone banking methods. UK Finance are currently investigating the banking needs of Billericay in order to best shape the pilot scheme. The survey results will feed into the evidence base for the pilot scheme.
John said:
“As High Street banks in Billericay have chosen to withdraw branches and reduce hours, I have had a series of meetings with managements to ensure that thought is being given particularly to those who are vulnerable or do not have access to online and telephone banking methods. We have had some successes including the Barclays pop up service at the Chantry Centre on Mondays and Wednesdays (9am to 5pm).”
“This Access to Cash pilot scheme is an opportunity to ensure that Billericay’s banking needs continue to be met and I would encourage everyone to respond to the survey which will help to shape future facilities.”
