MP: Japan is a key democratic ally
The Prime Minister, Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP, is due to sign a defence agreement with the Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, on his visit to London today. This will allow British and Japanese forces to be deployed in one another’s countries, and will help strengthen Britain’s commitment to Indo-Pacific security.
John said,
“I welcome this landmark defence agreement with Japan, which is key democratic ally in the Indo-Pacific region. The agreement will allow British and Japanese forces to plan and execute larger-scale and more complex military exercises and deployments, and is in addition to other elements of Anglo-Japanese defence co-operation – such as the Global Combat Air Programme to build our next-generation fighter aircraft.”
