MP: Washington summit boosts economies and Special Relationship
Yesterday in Washington DC the Prime Minister and the President of the United States announced the Atlantic Declaration, which strengthens the alliance between the United Kingdom and the United States by deepening the economic relationship and by strengthening supply chain resilience.
John said,
“The Atlantic Declaration has the potential to grow the economy, reduce trade barriers and create new jobs. It will strengthen our joint security by supporting each other’s critical supply chains, particularly those behind new clean technologies, and will allow for the uninterrupted exchange of goods and services between our two economies. It is clear the Special Relationship is in good order.”
“I also welcome the positive discussions the Prime Minister and President had on the AUKUS alliance, the war in Ukraine and NATO leadership. It is likewise good news that the President has thrown his strong support behind Britain’s forthcoming summit on artificial intelligence, which intends to ensure we all benefit from its advances whilst also ensuring this powerful new technology is harnessed safely and responsibly.”
