MP: Prime Minister should be congratulated
At Conservative conference today, the Prime Minister is expected to announce the cancellation of the HS2 line north of Birmingham, with savings allocated to improving transport infrastructure in the north. John Baron MP has voted against HS2 since it was first approved, believing the money could be better spent.
John said,
“I welcome the Prime Minister’s announcement today. HS2 has the potential to be the biggest white elephant in infrastructure history, with costs spiralling many times over initial projections.”
“The savings from not building north of Birmingham will be much better invested in other transport projects in the north, something I have long advocated, and the Prime Minister should be congratulated on his boldness and clear thinking.”
