MP heralds compassionate Conservatism and enterprise measures
Responding to the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement this afternoon, John said,
“I congratulate the Chancellor on the Autumn Statement, which demonstrates compassionate Conservatism alongside extensive support for enterprise, especially for SMEs.”
“Cutting the main rate of National Insurance Contributions will reduce taxes for 27 million people, and cutting and simplifying tax for the self-employed will yield an average saving of around £350 for someone earning £28,000. Meanwhile, the £11 billion set of business tax cuts represent the biggest tax reductions in modern British history.”
“Maintaining the Triple Lock, increasing working-age benefits and the Local Housing Allowance, alongside increasing the National Living Wage to record levels, will support the lowest paid. This is compassionate Conservatism in action – something many of us will continue to campaign for.”
